Chris L. Firestone is Associate Professor of Philosophy in the Philosophy Department at Trinity International University and part-time instructor at Trinity Graduate School (Deerfield, IL). He is author of "Kant and Theology at the Boundaries of Reason" (Ashgate Publishers, Ltd., 2009), co-author (with Nathan Jacobs) of "In Defense of Kant’s Religion" (Indiana University Press, 2008), Guest Editor of two Special Symposium Editions, one in the journal "Faith and Philosophy" (April 2012) on "In Defense of Kant's 'Religion'" and one in the journal "Philosophia Christi" on "Kant and the New Philosophy of Religion" (2007), and co-editor (with Nathan Jacobs) of the forthcoming volume "The Persistence of the Sacred in Modern Thought" (Notre Dame University Press, 2012).
For the last ten years, he has organized and moderated the "Trinity Debates" - an annual high level debate series covering a wide range of problems at the interface of philosophy and religion. He also participates in public philosophical debates on topics ranging from Immanuel Kant to Moral Realism. His abiding interests include Kant, the Enlightenment, philosophical/theological realism, and religion/religious studies. He is interdisciplinary by nature and strives to bridge the gap between the academy and other culture spheres. He is especially interested in film, and co-owns and operates his own production company (EmeritusProductions.com). He is a regular member of the American Academy of Religion, the American Philosophical Association, the Society of Christian Philosophers, and the North American Kant Society.
